Hi. I still check LJ even though I don't write in it anymore cause my life is so so boring and easily formatted for 140 characters.

Here are a couple of things/links for people to check out if they are still interested in the haps of Soni's life. My personal twatter and FB are private, and if I don't know, I probably won't add you, but you can just add my cosplay twatters and facebook that I update just as regularly.

Tumblr

and in case you don't know me personally and want to get in on my cosplay shenanigans, here's some more links cause I'm a social networking whore.

So yea, I read LJ, mostly for my gossips, but don't expect many, if anymore, updates here.

Where and who am I staying with?
Con hotel with my high school kiddies.

What are you wearing on what days?
Friday- Normal clothes
Saturday- Normal clothes
Sunday- Normal clothes

Who are you traveling with?
Archbishop Molloy HS

When are you getting there on Thursday?
Thursday. Lol. I'm getting in around 12 PM on Friday.

Wearing anything in the Pre-reg line?
NOPE.

What's your cell number so I can call you and we can hang out?!
3043127015 -> you can text since I never answer my phone lol.

Are you doing the masquerade? Or just hall cosplay?
I'm kinda sorta hoping to get press cred just so I can film the masq even though I have a badge already. Maybe one of the judges can get me in so I can set up? PLEASE?

What photoshoots do you have planned? Any gatherings and stuff?
I'll be roaming around with my camera. If you see me, stop me and I'll take some pics. I'm pretty much the only person covering for cosfu D:.

What about panels or workshops? Maybe the dealer's room?
No panels, no workshops, I'll check out the dealer's room, but I'm le broke, so I'm probably not going to buy anything haha.

*insert drama llama babble here*
I'll go ahead and be the odd on out, BRING ON THE DRAMA FOR IT IS ALWAYS FUN AND JUICY!

---

I'm going to be chaperoning again for my alma mater's anime club. I *might* bring a costume. I just got my Emerald wig from Sailor Moon, so MAYBE - MAYBE if I have enough time, I'll finish it before making my way over. Maybe. Other than that, I'll just be doing my own thing, probably hanging out with James and Lisa.

COSPLAY!

I should probably finish Emma. I've got all the fabric I need for it. I also need to get started STAT on Rosa for Tekko cause everyone else in my group has started but me. PAR FOR THE COURSE. I'll never change ;[!

The thing I noticed when Feyta sent a bunch of reference is that Rosa's gloves aren't actually connected to her bodice.

I...got happy with my mouse.

ALSO - I still cosplay sometimes. I made Litchi a few months back on a whim - took about 3 solid days to finish it and man, I wanna wear it again with better shoes and a better wig situation cause my balance was all sorts of off with that wig.

Nope. Not cut for you. Only cause Kevin is a bro.

That's itttttt. I'm pretty sure I don't have class tomorrow cause Jack Frost shit all over Pittsburgh after that lovely weekend in DC. SADS.

  • I'm almost done with my 2-week long sickness. I think. I've been coughing up phlegm (I see this as an improvement since I've been having a dry cough) and sneezing. WHICH I LOVE TO DO! :3333
  • I'm thinking about fixing up my layout for my LJ - either Katamari themed or Black Swan.. still not sure yet. Leaning more towards Katamari.
  • HOW'S EVERYONE BEEN?
  • I'm gonna do a small plug. cosfu.org. Why haven't you joined yet? Mature cosplay community, awesome discussion, no anonymity, no sugar-coating, just legit cosplay and fandom discussion. YOU SHOULD JOIN!
  • I made rice pudding last night. It wasn't that good. It didn't have the right consistency. I'll try again, but this time I'll call up my Yayita to give me the recipe.
  • School is awesome. I have to contact Catholic Charities if they have any open internships for a macro-level learning environment - aka communities and organizations, namely the policy side of things. Oh social work, I thought you were going to be easier than this.
  • I need to buy DCU.
  • I started playing WoW again - kinda only on my free time though. No raiding cause I have night classes, but I do play during the weekends. You should add me on REAL ID. s0nified@gmail.com
  • I have commissions to finish. Damn. I should probably work on that today
  • That is all.

New Year, fresh start, etc etc. I'd like to think 2010 was one of those defining years in my life. I'm in a new city, new school, new mindset. 2010 has been good to me.

2011 is going to be another formative year in my life. This year I'll be planning my wedding, getting my hours during field placement, possibly moving again cause my apartment, though cute, is mighty small, and hopefully more international travel if I play my cards right.

I go back to NY soon, and honestly, I can't wait. I miss my family and friends.

Things I definitely want to work on physically are the following:

1. Make breakfast everyday.
2. Run again. I used to be a runner, and now I can barely walk up my three flights of stairs. Again, another reason to move. I want to try to get my mile to about 6 mins. Maybe less.
3. Be more active in my community.
4. Expand my wardrobe to be more mature. Help Chris expand his.
5. Take care of my hair and skin. Meaning more sunscreen and moisturizer.
6. Make more friends here and develop the ones I have already.
7. Cut negativity out of my life. Help those with negativity in their lives to see how relaxing positivity is.
8. Try to make at least 1 raid on WoW, but since my schedule is all night classes, I don't think that happening, which is probably for the best.
9. Pass Stats and if I struggle, go to tutoring. My school offers it, I should take advantage.
10. Read more books.

Cosplay
1. Make Lime from Saber Marionette J. That's all I want to do. Lol.

I wish you all a positive and enriching 2011. May it be a year of success and happiness for you all.

PSA
Hi friends.

I just wanted to put this out there, but I'm extremely sensitive to racist remarks. Even moreso now that I've learned more about the history behind some of those stereotypes and the different levels of discrimination minorities throughout the US and world have to deal with.

Just putting this out there for you guys, take it or leave it, its up to you, but if you see statements that may be considered bigoted or racist, don't be afraid to say something. You can rest assure that I will *ALWAYS* say something if I see those remarks because I don't stand for it.

Discrimination, racism, bigotry is a very real dilemma facing today's society and the more education about how wrong it is to make these statements, the better.

That's all.

So in December, the BASW Club is holding a fundraising event to gather up dinero for a local community center which deals with families that are victims of domestic violence.

Their idea is to make a bunch of purple ribbons. I'm for it. I like ribbons. BUT.. we have a goal of $1,250 and I highly doubt 1,250 students will donate a dollar for a ribbon. I'm kinda debating on doing a little bit something more.

Ideas:

Purple Cupcakes with purple frosting.
Making maybe 5 cute purple aprons to sell for like.. 25 bucks a pop or something.
Cookies with a purple ribbon design.

I want to hit that goal. I made a flier to put around the school as well so people know its coming up.

Domestic violence affects a hell of a lot more people than you think, maybe some of you have experienced domestic violence in your life - as much as I don't want that to happen to the people I love, its something that needs to be address. Education is the key to eradicating domestic violence.

STATS FOR YOU

-> 1 out of 4 women experience domestic violence at some point in their life.

-> Women ages 20-24 are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence.

-> Nearly 2.2 million people called a domestic violence crisis or hot line in 2004 to escape crisis situations, seek advice, or assist someone they thought might be victims.

-> Studies show that access to shelter services leads to a 60-70% reduction in incidence and severity of re-assault during the 3-12 months’ follow up period compared to women who did not access shelter. Shelter services led to greater reduction in severe re-assault than did seeking court or law enforcement protection, or moving to a new location.

-> Between 600,000 and 6 million women are victims of domestic violence each year, and between 100,000 and 6 million men, depending on the type of survey used to obtain the data.

-> Studies suggest that between 3.3 - 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.

---

I would really appreciate any ideas that might help in the fundraising since this community center is vital in providing a safe-haven for families that are victims of domestic violence

Got confirmed for Press for Katsu.. but have to buy a badge. THAT'S SOME CHEAP SHIT RIGHT THERE, but whatever.

Tentative Line-Up

1. Konoe - Lamento with [info]4ng31 as Rai.
2. Morrigan - Darkstalkers with [info]chibi_lisa MAYBE. I dunno if I'm fully comfortable with doing this costume, plus dem wings. Maybe we'll figure something else out that we can do together.
3. Rei - High School of the Dead with [info]element_kun as Takashi. I just started watching this last night and kinda love it, and Paul's a bro and wanted to do HSotD so I'm just gonna commission this shit cause I have Konoe to worry about and it'll be easy pantsu mode.

So I promised Chris a long long time ago that I would cosplay as Konoe from Lamento. I promised because I think the design is cool, could be a fun challenge, and I get to crossplay.

BUT DAMN I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS GAY ASS SERIES WITH JUST HIM.

So we're looking for people to join our big gay group. It'll be fabulous.

Quote from Chris' LJ:

Here is the art book (well, one of them) - http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm9/_4ng31/Lamento%20Artbook/

And the game CG's (warning, there is some seriously gay shit in here) - http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm9/_4ng31/Lamento%20CGs/

Konoe - Moi
Rai - Chris
EVERYONE ELSE - Open

I'm sure if you are close to Chris' size, he can let you borrow Firi.
